King crabs can weigh 4 to 5 kilograms on average and measure up to 1.80m in wingspan.
The red king crab has a regal look to it. Its pointy shell looks like a pointy crown draped in a lavish crimson gown. One of its claws are bigger than the other, which could be mistaken for a sceptre, but is actually used to crush the red king’s prey.
King crabs are large, with succulent and tasty flesh, that can be enjoyed in both hot and cold dishes. King crab is low in saturated fat and a good source of vitamin B12, phosphorus, zinc, copper, and selenium. It has fleshy claws and legs packed with the sweet, rich meat.
Usage: his very versatile product offers all the deliciousness of king crab without the messy unshelling. The process of removing the shell is undertaken under high-pressure extraction and there should be no broken claw or Cartlidge included offering a high meat yield. The raw king crab meat can then be cooked gently in butter, sous vide or added to Thermidor mix and cooked in the oven and enjoyed with crusty bread.
