Winemaker Chrissy Wittmann works with old-vine Zinfandel wherever she can find it. The wine ferments in stainless steel to keep the fruit clean, then spends nine months in a mix of new American and French oak, which is where the chocolate, coffee and cinnamon come from. We also stock The Prisoner red blend and The Prisoner Chardonnay from the same house.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e2024 vintage:\u003c\/strong\u003e July brought record heat, but August turned mild and the fruit ripened slowly and evenly through a clear, largely smoke-free autumn. Picking ran to a normal schedule for the first time in a couple of years and crop levels were good.
