MOUTARDE DES POMPIERS
An exceptionally hot, smooth mustard from the legendary Pommery brand, created for those who enjoy serious heat in their condiments. This fiery version of their famous mustard delivers intense pungency and bold flavour that lives up to its "Fireman's" name. Made using the same traditional methods and recipe that dates back centuries, but formulated specifically for heat lovers who want maximum impact from their mustard.
The smooth, strained texture makes it perfect for incorporating into sauces, marinades, and dishes where you want clean heat without grain texture. Excellent with grilled meats, barbecue, and robust dishes that can stand up to its formidable strength. Use sparingly — a little goes a very long way with this powerhouse condiment.
Producer: Moutarde de Meaux produces the Pommery brand in Meaux, a cathedral town 60km west of Paris. Mustard production in Meaux dates back to 771 AD when Charlemagne decreed that canons and monks in cathedral towns should cultivate mustard. In 1760, a dignitary of the Meaux cathedral chapter passed on the canons' secret mustard recipe to a stonecutter called J. B. Pommery. The recipe has been served at the tables of French kings since 1632 and remains unchanged. All Pommery mustards are packed in traditional stoneware jars to preserve their characteristic pungency.
