MOUTARDE DES POMPIERS

Pommery Firemen's mustard is a multi-award-winning product that has been created for the connoisseur who enjoys an especially strong, hot mustard!

Firemen's is smooth strained mustard and will enhance highly spiced dishes in the Mexican, Texan or Korean tradition, and will also add flair to sauerkraut and grilled dishes. Invite the French Pompier, but keep the fire hose handy!

Moutarde de Meaux is regarded as one of the world’s greatest mustard producers. Their award-winning Pommery mustards are the favourite of professional chefs and discerning foodies alike. All of their mustards are packed in traditional stoneware jars which helps to preserve the mustards’ characteristic pungency, so they taste fresher for longer.

Pommery mustard is made in Meaux, a cathedral town 60km west of Paris. The town has a long history of mustard production. It began in 771 AD when Charlemagne decreed that canons and monks in cathedral towns like Meaux should cultivate mustard.

Meaux was also a centre for the quarrying of millstones, which brought many craftsmen to the area. In 1760, a dignitary of the Meaux cathedral chapter passed on the canons’ secret mustard recipe to a stonecutter. The stonecutter was called J. B. Pommery, and the recipe is still used by Moutarde de Meaux to make their famous Pommery mustard today.

OUR COURIERS

We send all of our shipments on an express overnight courier service, usually with DPD.  We have a perishable account giving our parcels priority in their network.  Should you not be at home at the time of delivery, the driver will try to find a safe place to leave your parcel and send you a notification.  However, we do always encourage you to be in to receive your goods to ensure there is no risk of theft, for which we do not accept liability.

If your residence opens directly onto a pavement or you have a shared access it may not be possible for your driver to find a safe place in the event that you are out, in this case your parcel will return to the depot and one more delivery will be attempted the following day.  After two unsuccessful delivery attempts, your parcel will be disposed of due to its perishable nature.

DELIVERY TIME SLOTS

On the day of your delivery you will receive a notification with your one hour time slot via SMS and email.

PACKAGING

For the shipping fresh and frozen goods we use high quality mixed recyclable insulated packaging to keep your products perfect through the courier network.

To keep frozen goods at the correct temperature we use a safe alternative to dry ice.  These gel packs freeze to a temperature of -45° and stay frozen for an extended period of time. Completely food safe and fully recyclable/reusable.

FROZEN PRODUCTS

The vast majority of shipments arrive frozen but we cannot guarantee this.  In the event that your order has defrosted it should still be at a very low temperature when you receive it and therefore fine to put in your freezer.  Refreezing is only unsafe if the product has reached 8°c. It is worth mentioning that supermarkets routinely sell defrosted food as "fresh", with the advice that it may be frozen when you get home.

All frozen products arrive in extremely high quality, fully insulated packaging.

FRESH TRUFFLES

All fresh truffles are sent in a foil resealable pack with an absorbent paper.  This is suitable for storing in your fridge.  If storing truffles for more than a few days we recommend wrapping them in paper towel or using a Tuberpac.  Fresh truffles are always best consumed as soon as possible.
