Producer: Grand Tokaj is the largest winery in the historic UNESCO World Heritage Tokaj wine region and guardian of Hungary's national winemaking traditions. Founded by the Hungarian State in 1948, the winery was known as Tokaj Kereskedőház until changing its name to Grand Tokaj in 2016. Now owned by the Tokaj-Hegyalja University Foundation, the company possesses 66 hectares of prime vineyards and sources grapes from over 1,200 small producers across 1,050 hectares. Under chief oenologist Károly Áts, winner of 'Winemaker of the Year' 2012, Grand Tokaj creates wines in underground cellars carved from centuries-old volcanic rock mines, extending five kilometres with a two-storey layout.

Vintage: The 2013 vintage represents a landmark year as the first Aszú 6 Puttonyos produced under the Grand Tokaj name rather than the previous Kereskedőház label. This wine showcases the traditional Tokaji method using 100% botrytized grapes hand-picked in multiple passes from September through November. The base wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks before the final wine was aged for 18 months in oak barrels ranging from 136 to 500 litres, creating a textbook example of Hungarian winemaking artistry with remarkable finesse and polish.
