Fresh basil leaves are cold-pressed together with Arbequina olives at the same time in the mill, extracting the essential oils of the basil directly into the olive oil during production. This is not an infusion and not a flavouring — the basil character is captured at the point of pressing, which gives the oil a depth and naturalness that steeped or artificially flavoured oils cannot match. The result is a smooth, aromatic oil with a genuine, herbaceous basil fragrance and the sweet, fruity backbone of Arbequina beneath it. No additives, no artificial flavourings, no preservatives.
The flavour is unmistakably basil — green, peppery, and slightly sweet — but integrated into the oil rather than sitting on top of it. This makes it remarkably easy to use. Drizzle over fresh tomatoes and mozzarella for an instant Caprese without needing to tear a single leaf. Finish pasta dishes — it is particularly good on a simple spaghetti with garlic, or tossed through penne with cherry tomatoes. Brush onto focaccia before baking for an aromatic, herbed crust. Use in dressings for Mediterranean salads, or drizzle over grilled vegetables, bruschetta, minestrone, or a fresh tomato soup. It brings the flavour of summer basil to the kitchen year-round, regardless of season.
