Producer: Château Carbonnieux holds the distinguished honour of being one of only six estates classified for both red and white wines in the 1959 Graves Classification, with its winemaking heritage dating back to the 13th century. Located in the heart of Pessac-Léognan, the château's 42 hectares of white grape vineyards benefit from the region's distinctive gravel soils mixed with clay and limestone subsoils. The Perrin family, proprietors since 1956, have meticulously maintained traditional Bordeaux white winemaking techniques whilst embracing modern precision, employing barrel fermentation and extended lees aging to craft wines of remarkable complexity and longevity that exemplify the sophisticated elegance of Graves' finest terroir.
Vintage: The 2019 vintage in Pessac-Léognan ranks amongst the finest in recent memory, delivering wines of exceptional balance and aging potential. A mild winter and early spring encouraged healthy vine development, followed by a hot, dry summer that concentrated flavours without compromising freshness. Crucially, cool nights throughout August preserved essential acidity whilst allowing phenolic ripeness to develop fully. The harvest began in early September under ideal conditions, producing grapes with perfect sugar-acid balance. This vintage showcases remarkable harmony between power and elegance, with the extended growing season allowing for complete flavour development and the complex mineral expression that defines great Bordeaux blanc.
