The sombre named 'trumpet of death' is a hard mushroom to find as it blends in well with decaying leaves on the forest floor but is anything but deathly! Death trumpets owe their name to the fact that they emerge around “All Saints Day”, also known as the “celebration of the dead”.
Trompette mushrooms have an intense, smoky flavour with earthy undertones and a delicate texture. Their trumpet shape and black colour make them visually striking, whilst their concentrated flavour means a little goes a long way.
Preparation: Brush clean gently to remove any forest debris. Their flavour is a lot like cep mushrooms with a little hint of hazelnut, and are best when sautéed in small batches in a hot pan with olive and finishing with a touch of butter. They complement game dishes, risottos, and omelettes. Can be dried for longer storage and reconstituted for soups and stews.

All items leave our facility in perfect condition with a good use-by date. Please consider this when selecting your delivery date. Once dispatched, the package is under the responsibility of our couriers, making it difficult to change the delivery address or expedite delays.
We do offer Saturday delivery, but please note that our couriers do not operate phone support at weekends, and our customer service is closed. For time-sensitive deliveries, we recommend choosing a weekday to allow us to address any issues promptly.
