Producer: Château Mouton Rothschild stands as one of Bordeaux's most iconic estates, elevated to First Growth status in 1973 after Baron Philippe de Rothschild's relentless pursuit of excellence. The estate's 90 hectares of prime Pauillac gravelly soils have produced legendary wines since the 18th century, with each vintage featuring commissioned artwork from renowned artists including Picasso, Chagall, and Warhol.

The 2008 Vintage showcases Mouton's signature power and intensity, crafted during a challenging year that demanded exceptional vineyard management and rigorous selection, resulting in a wine that embodies the estate's motto "Premier je suis, second je fus, Mouton ne change" - demonstrating why this château remains at the pinnacle of Bordeaux winemaking.

The 2006 vintage was made in a testing year — a hot July, then a cool, wet August that put the Merlot under pressure and left the Cabernet Sauvignon to carry the wine. Selection was ruthless: only 44% of the crop went into the grand vin, the lowest proportion in over fifty years, and the blend came in at 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, unusually high even for Mouton. The result is a Pauillac built on precision rather than sheer weight, the wine that established Philippe Dhalluin's tenure at the estate, and one of the more talked-about labels in the series — Lucian Freud's zebra
