Producer: DAOU was founded in 2007 by brothers Georges and Daniel Daou — born in Lebanon, raised in France — who came to Paso Robles with a shared ambition to make world-class wine on California's Central Coast. The Reserve Chardonnay is grown in the Adelaida District, the high-elevation western reaches of Paso Robles, where calcareous soils and cool nights give white wines their balance of ripeness and acidity.
Blended from the estate's best lots by Daniel Daou and aged in French oak, the wine carries the depth and craftsmanship that built the family's name. Jasmine and honeysuckle on the nose, lifted by pineapple and melon and deepened with caramel and honey. The palate is smooth and creamy — tropical fruit layered with hazelnut, almond and vanilla — finishing rounded and long, drawn out by bright, lingering acidity. A generous, polished Central Coast Chardonnay.
