Producer: Domaine Nicolas Rossignol was founded in 1997 by Nicolas Rossignol, a fifth-generation Volnay winegrower, and now spans seventeen hectares and some thirty appellations across the Côte de Beaune. The estate works to a sustainable, biodynamically-inspired philosophy — no chemical herbicides, low-intervention winemaking, hand-harvesting into small crates, double sorting, native-yeast ferments, and bottling without fining or filtration to keep the wine's character intact.
Clos des Angles sits at the southern tip of Volnay, on the slope where the appellation borders Meursault. The triangular plot — named for its shape, set in the angle of two vineyard paths — faces south-east at around 250 metres, on clay-limestone soils threaded with shattered limestone that drain freely while holding measured moisture. It is a terroir known for rounded, elegant wines: fine in structure, silky in texture, approachable young yet built to age, with around twenty months in oak on fine lees.
