Rating: 92 Points - James Suckling | 91.3 Average - CellarTracker
Tasting: A revolutionary champagne displaying rich aromas of ripe stone fruit, spring flowers, and lemongrass with subtle oaky notes. The palate reveals encyclopaedic depth with layers of almond, sloe, gingerbread, and apples. Features a luxurious texture that coats the mouth, balanced by bright acidity and fine, compressed bubbles. The finish offers energetic freshness with a pleasing twist of bitterness from oak-aged reserves.
Pairing: Sublime with spicy tuna, roasted poultry, or creamy seafood dishes. Excellent as an aperitif or with delicate canapés and fresh oysters.
Producer: Founded in 1776, Louis Roederer stands as one of Champagne's most prestigious family-owned houses, now under the stewardship of seventh-generation family member Frédéric Rouzaud and legendary cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon. This groundbreaking Collection 242 represents their 242nd harvest blend since foundation, marking a revolutionary departure from traditional non-vintage champagne. Built around a unique "Perpetual Reserve" started in 2012 and enriched annually, this multi-vintage cuvée embraces climate adaptation whilst maintaining Roederer's uncompromising quality standards. The house owns 242 hectares of prime vineyards across Champagne's finest terroirs, with 115 hectares certified organic and the prestigious Cristal estates farmed biodynamically.
