Producer: The Reserve Fumé Blanc comes from To Kalon, the storied benchland vineyard in west Oakville that sits at the heart of Robert Mondavi's reputation. Well-drained soils and ideal sun exposure give fruit of real depth and flawless maturity — the Sauvignon Blanc drawn largely from the Monastery Block at the northern end, with its tropical and stone fruit character, lifted by higher-toned, juicier fruit from V Block. A small portion of Sémillon adds viscosity and texture to the finished wine.
Mondavi pioneered the Fumé Blanc style in California, and the Reserve remains its most serious expression — barrel-influenced, structured, built to age rather than simply refresh. Fresh and lively on the palate, with vibrant acidity, layered stone and tropical fruit, and a long, mineral finish. A benchmark Napa white from one of the New World's great vineyard sites.
