Tomme Aux 7 Fleurs Sale price£6.50

Tomme aux 7 Fleurs — a French cow's milk tomme from Maison de Vivarais, with the rind covered in seven dried flowers. The flowers are pressed onto the exterior of the cheese during production and are largely decorative — they add colour and a faint herbal fragrance but do not significantly alter the flavour of the paste itself. The visual effect is striking: dried petals in blues, pinks, yellows and purples against the pale rind.

The paste is pale yellow, slightly open-textured with small holes, and semi-firm. The flavour is mild, gentle and approachable — a light nuttiness, a clean lactic note, no sharpness or funk. This is not a challenging cheese. It sits at the accessible end of the range and works well on a mixed board where you want something visually interesting that will not overwhelm anyone. It pairs easily with fruit, light crackers, and honey.
