Maison Bornibus Sauce Béarnaise

Sale price£6.80
Maison Bornibus, France 210g

Béarnaise is one of the classic French sauces, a relative of hollandaise built on a reduction of tarragon and vinegar and bound with egg yolk. Tarragon gives it its character — faintly aniseed, herbal, sharp — and it has long been the standard partner to grilled red meat.

Bernaise Sauce
Maison Bornibus Sauce Béarnaise Sale price£6.80

A ready-to-serve take on the classic béarnaise — the tarragon sauce that belongs beside a grilled steak. Smooth and pourable, with the herb's gentle aniseed note carried on a soft, vinegared tang. Serve it as it is or warm it through gently, alongside steak, grilled chicken or fish, roast vegetables or chips. Keep refrigerated once opened.

Producer Maison Bornibus traces back to Alexandre Bornibus, who took over a mustard works near the Halles in Paris in the 1850s and built one of the most celebrated condiment names in nineteenth-century France — admired by Alexandre Dumas, who wrote of it in his Grand Dictionnaire de cuisine. The house still carries his name across a range of mustards, sauces and condiments.
