These magnificent shellfish rule deep in the untamed Bering Sea. Since 1930, Chatka has braved the wild and uninviting tides to carefully source what has been termed 'Red Gold'. Red king crabs can weigh up to 12kg and measure up to 1.8m in wingspan.
The nutrient-rich, icy waters of the sea give it an unparalleled quality. Red king crab has a pronounced flavour and a pleasant texture on par if not better than lobster.
This Chatka king crab meat is cooked, and the shell is carefully removed. This exceptional product can be eaten straight from the tin, served with lemon, tarragon mayonnaise, or aioli with a drop of Tabasco on top of toasted sourdough. It also works well in salads and lends itself well to being flaked. Each leg portion contains a small, easily removable cartilage.
