Producer: Château Phélan Ségur is a historic estate located in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. With a history dating back to the early 19th century, it has become one of the key names in Bordeaux. Under the stewardship of the Phélan family, the estate has grown to be a beacon of quality, producing wines that reflect both the tradition and innovation of Bordeaux. The wine is crafted with a blend of old-world technique and modern precision, allowing the terroir of Saint-Estèphe to shine through in every bottle.
The 2011 vintage in Bordeaux experienced a cooler than usual spring followed by a warm, dry summer, which led to a slightly later harvest. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes reached optimal ripeness in perfect conditions, producing a wine that is expressive and full of character. While 2011 was a challenging year, the wines from Saint-Estèphe, like Château Phélan Ségur, benefitted from the cooler conditions, resulting in wines with freshness, structure, and ageability.
