Tasting: Classic and powerfully structured, displaying intense aromas of blackcurrant, cedar and graphite, with subtle notes of violets and spice box. The palate shows impressive depth with firm but refined tannins, layers of dark fruits, tobacco and crushed stones, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish characteristic of great Pauillac terroir.
Pairing: Outstanding with Westholme Wagyu ribeye or Miguel Vergara aged beef cuts. Also pairs beautifully with Cinco Jotas Presa and dishes featuring our ceps or morels. For cheese, try with aged Fort Saint Antoine Comté. Decant for 2-3 hours before serving.
Producer: Château Lynch Bages, a Fifth Growth that consistently performs well above its classification, has been under the thoughtful stewardship of the Cazes family since 1939. The estate's 100 hectares of vineyards sit on the plateau of Bages, with deep gravel soils producing wines of remarkable power and longevity. The 2008 vintage was produced in their historic facilities before their complete modernisation in 2017.
Vintage: 2012 began with a wet, challenging spring that continued into early summer, but was transformed by exceptional weather from late September through harvest. This extended period of warm, dry conditions allowed for ideal maturation of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The resulting wine displays the characteristic elegance and vitality of a demanding vintage, with outstanding potential for long-term cellaring.
