Tasting: This exceptional Clos de la Roche reveals an enticing bouquet of red plums, blackberries and spring flowers. Full-bodied with velvety texture and fine-grained, chalky tannins, it displays a deep, concentrated core of fruit balanced by tangy acidity. The limestone terroir contributes mineral backbone and concentration, creating a wine of remarkable poise and elegance.
Pairing: Magnificent with Squab Pigeon, Guinea Fowl, or Limousin Veal. Exceptional alongside aged Fort Saint Antoine Comté, Vacherin Mont d'Or, or dishes featuring Wild Morels and Ceps. Also superb with Ōra King Salmon or Chilean Sea Bass prepared with Black Truffle.
Producer: Founded in 2008 by Nicolas Potel, one of Burgundy's most exciting 'new generation' winemakers. Working towards full biodynamic status, the estate uses natural processes and an old-vine strategy with some vines over 100 years old. The name references Beaune's historical "Bellene" designation, honouring the city's legendary wine heritage whilst producing exceptional vintages that respect vineyard provenance.
Vintage: The 2014 vintage overcame early challenges including June hailstorms that reduced yields significantly. From mid-August, dry sunny conditions continued into September, allowing steady maturation and concentrated flavours. This vintage produces wines with excellent charm and flesh, drinking beautifully now whilst offering potential for further development.
